Back in the late 90’s, home PC’s were having a bit of a revolution, instead of being just for business, more and more games were being released, but as the PC moved from business to family use with the introduction of the internet, the games were your basic first person shooters, flight sims and strategy games, it needed more. Then along came the Sims. In its original incarnation you were able to nurture and assist your sims to the perfect life, ensuring all of your sims needs were cared for. Not just the Dads were playing, this was one of the first true games on the PC to have an interest from younger players to females, and they all loved it. Since then there have been many updates and versions. The most recent being the Sims 2: Pets for the Nintendo Wii. Seeing as the Wii is very family orientated, this title is ideal for the new console.

The Sims has you control the daily in and outs of your new family. They will start in a basic house and the tutorial will assist you with general control and how to interact with other sims. You are able to go to work and with your hard earned cash, build your flat into a dream house, nothing new there, the new addition to this title is the pets. Whilst you cant control them directly, your chosen sim can interact with them on your behalf, taking them for walks and offering them dinners, and other gifts. You can choose from a cat, dog or hamster. Whilst taking out for walks your sim and your pets are able to interact with other animals, in fact at later on in the game, if your pet finds true love there may be the little pitter patter of paws through your nice clean house. You can also train your pets to obey commands and enter them into competitions.
The Wii controls are perfect for The Sims, the wii-mote is used to control the on screen cursor, and the nunchuck to move the screen around, one you get used to waving your hands around, the controls are like second nature, with you listing commands for your chosen sim at the drop of a hat.
If you play through the game casually, you will only scratch the surface of this title, the more you venture into the options and tools available, you will find that almost anything can be customized for your own tastes. With over 22 dog and 15 cat breeds you will be customizing you perfect pet for a long time.

Seeing as there are so many versions of this game out on many platforms it is hard to choose the best one, but I can assure you this is the best home console version on the market.
