This week on Virtual Console
Posted by wotta, 307 days ago Nov 9, 2007 14:37

This week on Virtual Console Super Mario Bros. 3 arrives for download. Originally released in 1991 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Mario Bros. 3 is the perfect way to get you in the Mario mood ahead of the much anticipated 16th November European launch of Super Mario Galaxy on Wii, which sees Mario blasted into space and tackling his most gravity defying adventure yet!

Super Mario Bros. 3 sees Mario and Luigi take on Bowser and hischeeky offspring, who have turned the Mushroom World Kings into animals and stolen their wands! Our duo must make their way through eight treacherous and secretive worlds restoring the Mushroom Kingdom to its rightful state! Players must use all the powers available to them and master Mario’s new abilities as they fly as Raccoon Mario, swim as Frog Mario, and throw fireballs as Fire Mario to overthrow Bowser’s offspring lurking in their heavily armed ships. Also featuring a cooperative or competitive two-player mode, Super Mario Bros. 3 is a gaming classic, so make sure you get your hands on it when it launches this week on Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points!

Also up for grabs this week is the NEOGEO classic BLUE’S JOURNEY. Released in 1990, this colourful platformer is available to download for 900 Wii Points. Players assume the role of the small but heroic Blue, who must rid planet Raguy of evil. The Daruma Empire has taken over planet Raguy and has been busy enslaving the planet’s inhabitants and polluting the lush and green environment. Armed with just a leaf whip, players must help Blue equip himself to fight the Daruma Empire and restore Raguy to it’s original, greener, glory.

For all sports fans out there, Power Golf will be just up your street! With 18 holes to complete over challenging fairways, this competitive game can be yours for 600 Wii Points. Available for the Turbografx in 1989, Power Golf features three main modes: Stroke Play, Match Play and Competition, with the opportunity to play against two human or computer controlled opponents. Adding to the challenge, players must size up the green, avoid the sandtraps and apply the correct amount of power and spin to become the ultimate golf champion. So make sure your hand is steady and your strike sure as Power Golf makes its way onto Virtual Console.
